After Spain, Italy and America, the virus has found it's new epicentre viz, Latin America.
As the region has seen more than 2.4 million cases and more than 143,000 deaths.
Brazil, having the most number of cases in South America has got 2nd place in the list of the global ranking.
A total of 468k+ cases has been registered in Brazil with the death count crossing 28k.
Carissa F. Etienne, director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), said in a press briefing in Washington, D.C., that her researchers “are particularly concerned that the number of new cases reported last week in Brazil was the highest for a seven-day period since the outbreak began.”
“Both Peru and Chile are also reporting a high incidence,” she added. “Now is not the time to relax restrictions or scale back preventive strategies. Now is the time to stay strong, remain vigilant, and aggressively implement proven public health measures.”

Brazillian president Bolsonaro is not in favour of any type of Lockdown. He is more concerned about the Brazilian economy. according to him, if the economy shrinks, more people will die.
I would like to quote Bolsonaro for you,
"The virus is here, we're going to have to confront it. Confront it like a man, not a boy!"

He also fired the country’s health minister, Luiz Henrique Mandetta. Among Mandetta’s sins were being more popular than Bolsonaro, refusing to relax social distancing, and objecting to the use of hydroxychloroquine as a standard treatment for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
While talking about all this, we have to keep in mind that the Brazillian economy is considered highly Volatile and has a turbulent past.
